Poonam serves as a Case Manager in the Child Welfare Preventive Services program providing family services to immigrant families from Pakistan and India.
Poonam previously served as a Vocational Specialist at Abilities, Inc. for 10 years. She worked with young adults and teens with various developmental disabilities, providing them with academic instruction and computer, vocational, social, and life skills training. Poonam also worked at Queensborough Community College’sOffice of Services for Students with Disabilities and the Office of Academic Advisement.
Poonam received an M.B.A. in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Baruch College (CUNY). She was born in India and spent her childhood in different countries around the world. She came to the United States 20 years ago, and while her native language is English and Hindi, she is also fluent in conversational Urdu and Punjabi.
