Cindy is a first-year Columbia University MSW intern and serves as a Case Manager in the Healthy Families and Services for Immigrant Families programs. Sheprovides case management services to a variety of immigrant families, and also teaches an adult ESL course at CIANA.
Cindy graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Psychology and International Relations. Cindy has extensive international experience travelling to many different countries in Europe, South East Asia, and the Middle East, and studied in Amman, Jordan for five months on a State-Department scholarship during her last year of college.
In the field of social services, Cindy has a diverse work experience. She previously worked with people with Autism and other developmental disabilities in a home setting and at a community arts based setting, leading and coordinating lessons in Art and Dance Therapy. She has also volunteered for the Veterans Administration (VA), led an English Conversation Club at the University of Jordan in Amman, volunteered at orphanages abroad, and taught English to adults and children in Indonesia.
Cindy spent the first 14 years of her life in Indonesia. She moved to Canada at the age of 14, and to the United States at 16. Cindy’s native languages are Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) and English. She is also fluent in Malay, and conversational in French and Arabic.
