Case Management Supervisor

Position Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Case Manager to manage casework staff and oversee case management services. CIANA is a small, community-based social services organization that focuses on integrating new immigrants from the Middle East/North Africa, South Asia, and Latin America into the socio-economic and civic life of American society. We provide an array of holistic programs and services that guide and support new immigrant families.

Currently, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our office in Astoria is closed and all our services are provided remotely. We are looking for an experienced case management professional to strategize with our management staff, to assess immigrant needs in the pandemic, to address their language and technology barriers, to provide relief services that meet their immediate needs, and to offer casework counseling.

 

He/she will train and oversee a team of case workers, and assist them with information and referral services on employment, housing, healthcare, financial, education, and legal needs, public benefits and community resources. Experience using NYC Access HRA and the NYS HealthCare Marketplace data portals are a plus. He/she will help increase public knowledge of relief services, and will be responsible for maintaining accurate data, managing proper documentation, and providing regular reports.

Our preferred candidate will be bilingual (have proficiency in languages other than English, preferably Arabic, Bangla or Spanish), have excellent interpersonal communication, technological, and research skills, casework counseling experience, and live in NYC.

Bilingual English/Spanish Caseworker

Position Description

Our Case Management Department is looking for a highly personable, persistent, and detail-oriented Caseworker to assist our case manager with client services. CIANA’s Case Management Department provides job/housing assistance, public benefits application support, and NYC Care enrollment as well as referrals to other community and public resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheduling new appointments and confirming scheduled appointments

  • Managing correspondence between CIANA, clients, and other institutions

  • Completing general and case management intakes for new clients

  • Assisting with case working appointments, especially with interpretation for clients who speak Spanish

  • Maintaining case working client spreadsheet, database, and digital files

  • Organizing and maintaining up-to-date paper files

  • Attending trainings and coalition meetings with case manager and/or clients

  • Accompanying or representing clients at other meetings and appointments

Qualifications

  • At least two years of college completed

  • At least one year of case work experience (preferably) in NY

  • Proficiency in Spanish

  • Experience in one or more of the following:

    • Microsoft Office and Google Suite, especially Excel/Sheets

    • Knowledge of public benefits or willingness to learn

    • Researching

    • Organization and filing

    • Counseling or customer service

  • Help fulfill quarterly deliverables

  • Develop and execute trainings in specific service areas
