Test & Trace Outreach Worker
CIANA is looking for passionate, outgoing, and experienced Outreach Workers to participate in our Test & Trace (T2) education/outreach efforts. CIANA in conjunction with NYC Health & Hospitals Corp, will be educating our local communities on the importance of wearing masks, social distancing and testing. We are looking for culturally competent experienced workers to go into the community, hand out fliers, table at events and fairs, and complete other outreach tasks as necessary, in order to inform community members of the importance maintaining social distance, and getting tested if you have spent time with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Requirements:

Proficiency in Arabic, Bengali, or Spanish
-
Experience with community involvement and/or outreach for political campaigns, community events, etc.

Public speaking and interpersonal communication skills
-
Keen awareness of immigration news and issues impacting immigrant communities
-
Knowledge of the COVID-19 virus
-
Occasional weekend and evening availability
-
Comfortability with advocacy and mobilization
-
Knowledge of Queens (Astoria in particular) its immigrant population, and related topics is a huge plus!

Case Manager - Arabic Speaker
We are looking for an experienced, Arabic-speaking case management professional to work remotely to provide services to our clients -- strategize with our management staff to assess our community members’ needs, their language and technology barriers, and provide the services that meet their emergency needs, including those related to COVID-19.
Currently, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, our office in Astoria is closed and we have suspended all in-person services and programs. All our staff, interns, and volunteers are working remotely from home.

Fall 2020 Development Intern
Our Department of Communications and Development is looking for a self-starting Development Intern who is a strong thinker, writer, and listener with excellent people skills. Chosen interns will work alongside the Communications & Community Outreach VISTA to enhance CIANA’s fundraising strategy and to foster and maintain relationships with donors.
Requirements:

At least one year of college completed
-
Studying Communications, Marketing, Design, Journalism, English, Writing, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field
-
Experience in one or more of the following:
-
Planning fundraisers or charity events
-
Applying to and receiving personal scholarships and/or grants for student clubs and/or outside organizations
-
Outreach to and/or developing connections with politicians’ offices
-
Ability to meet strict deadlines, including those on short notice
-
Proficiency in Arabic, Bangla, Spanish, or other languages is a plus
-
Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage donor relations by ensuring donors, local partners, and elected officials receive regular, personalized communications

Research effective strategies for non-profit financial growth
-
Maintain correspondence between CIANA and its donors, business partners, and elected officials
-
Draft online content (social media posts, website updates, etc.) to advertise fundraisers
-
Brainstorm ideas for potential fundraising campaigns or events

Work with Communications & Community Outreach VISTA to create promotional materials, online postings, and plan possible fundraising event(s)
Projects:

Assist with executing Giving Tuesday campaign on December 1, 2020 and help launch End-of-Year fundraising campaign

Help plan at least one event with a local politician (Council Member, State Senator, Assembly Member, etc.), such as a know-your-rights workshop
Compensation: Unpaid, but may be completed for academic credit
Hours: 12-20 hours per week

Volunteer Tutor - Elementary Afterschool Program
CIANA offers one-on-one homework help to elementary school students in grades 1-5. Tutoring is held virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 - 6 PM during the school year. Sessions last for 1.5 hours between the time mentioned above. We are looking for volunteers that would be great role models for our students by supporting them in completing their homework and strengthening their academic skills. In the future, volunteers may also have the opportunity to lead extracurricular activities remotely, as many of our students spend much of their time inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Volunteer ESL Teacher
CIANA is looking for a volunteer ESL instructor. Our classes are typically composed of 10-20 students whose English proficiency ranges from beginner to intermediate. You must be comfortable managing a diverse group of students and facilitating fun and interactive activities. Since our offices are still closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, hours are negotiable and a schedule can be discussed upon hire.
Responsibilities:

Write and deliver English lessons that incorporate reading, writing, speaking, and listening components based on a curriculum

Facilitate lessons on life skills and practical English in a fun and accessible way
-
Collaborate with other ESL teachers on lesson development and execution

Assist in tracking student needs and progress
Required:

Consistent availability on weekdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm

Charismatic, dynamic, and interactive instruction methods

Motivated to help students achieve their goals

Competent in and respectful of cultural differences

CIANA is seeking enthusiastic board members who are looking to make a difference. Time commitment is essential and active involvement is both critical and expected. Retirees are especially encouraged to apply.
Working in partnership with the Founder and CEO, the Board of Directors supports CIANA’s growth and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. The Board of Director’s role in CIANA’s fundraising efforts is paramount. They are expected to assist with the solicitation of contributions and funding from the government, foundations, organizations, and individuals, as well as to make annual gifts that reflect their commitment.
The Center for the Integration & Advancement of New Americans (CIANA) is a small but dynamic Queens-based nonprofit social services organization that works to integrate new immigrants from South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America into the socio-economic and civic life of American society while maintaining pride in their cultural heritage.
